JV Basketball Growing Through Adversity

The JV Basketball team took part in the St. Joseph’s Basketball Tournament this past weekend.  Here is an update on how they did in Friday and Saturday night’s games as relayed to us by Coach Phillips.

FRIDAY VS. ST. JOSEPH

“Friday night game was a high octane thriller featuring 3 dunks, a three point barrage and some firsts for our team. We had freshman Kyle Asplund’s first in-game dunk off the break and a 25 point performance by Devo Bailey with a season high 7 threes. Devo was locked in tonight and really brought out the best in our game. We couldn’t translate our energy to scoring more than our opponent, as the Eagles fell to St. Joe’s 59-41, but it felt great to hit the goals we set for ourselves. It’s now on to the next challenge, a well oiled AG squad to bring us into our Thanksgiving break.”

SATURDAY VS. ARROYO GRANDE

ARROYO GRANDE 63      THS 36

“Spirits were high after our final game of the tournament. We left feeling closer as a team and more confident in who we are. Sometimes it takes a little pressure and time to cook up a good team. Moving closer to league, we encountered just that verses AG. More strong shooting from Devo and Kyle with good play from Maddox and Colby as well. These guys played a ton of minutes and are better for it. Give credit to AG for setting a high bar for us and pushing us.”
