Through Our Eyes: Principal Aston

What is Templeton High School through my eyes? I see accomplishment. I see school pride. I see opportunity. In my eyes, THS represents possibility and the opportunity to find greatness. Ronald Reagan said “…Every new day begins with possibilities” and I see unlimited possibilities at Templeton High School.

I remember the first time I set foot on the THS campus. It was May of 2019 and I had just been through an extensive first round of an interview process for the job as principal of THS and I was invited back for a second round of interviews. As part of that interview process I was brought to the THS campus to be shown around and visit with some of the students. I remember the excitement and uncertainty of the possibility of making a change to become the principal at Templeton High School. The philosopher Heraclitus of Ephesus once said “the only constant in life is change.” However, that doesn’t make change any less nerve-wracking. I didn’t know if THS would be the right fit for me and my family. When I arrived on campus at THS I remember that as I was being shown around I felt comfortable and had the confirmation that this was where I needed to be.

I can now say that what I felt on that day last May was accurate. I love the small-school feel of THS and I have felt welcomed and embraced by our students, staff and community.

Every day I am in awe of the amazing young people that we have at THS and the incredible things that they do. When I arrive at our campus every day, I am filled with excitement because of the potential and possibility that I see in our students. I am honored to work with a dedicated and devoted staff that cares for our students and feel so fortunate to be a part of Templeton High School.

Mr. Aston is the Templeton High School Principal.  He is in front of school each day greeting students, a frequent visitor in classes and easy to find at games and school events.  His kindness, his leadership, his easy going demeanor, and the support he shows to staff and students has been a blessing to all on the THS campus.
