Q & A with Coach Keith Swank
News From The Nest: What are your thoughts on this year’s team/season?
Coach Keith Swank: I am really excited about the upcoming season. It will be a tough challenging year but I am confident the players will rise to meet those challenges
NFTN: What athletes do you think will stand out this year?
KS: That’s a tough question, we have several players that make an impact each season. Bella Backer is always an offensive force for us, Charlotte Forniss missed all of last season due to injury and she has the potential to be an all league player. Of course we have 4 starting players that were freshman last year so we have a lot of players we expect to stand out this season
NFTN: What are you looking forward to this season/ expectations for the season?
KS: I am looking forward to seeing the growth and confidence in our younger returners. I expect the team to compete for the top of our league and play every inning of every game with intensity and have fun.
NFTN: Who is the biggest competition this year?
KS: Our competition is always against ourselves. If we come out each day at practice and be better then we were the day before we will have a great season.
NFTN: What is different about this year’s season than last year’s? (players, league, etc.)
KS: Losing Ashley Daugherty was a big loss defensively and offensively. I really think its a great opportunity for other players to step up and lead the program. We also have enough players to field a Jv team again so that is great for the program
NFTN: What goals do you have for the team this year?
KS: To grow as competitors and build on the confidence of last years success. If we can accomplish that we will compete for another CIF championship
